About Allegro

Mission Statement:

“To provide quality dance and music education for students of all ages while encouraging a lifelong love of the art forms.”

Foundation:

Allegro School of Dance was founded in 1989 by Janet M. Johnson with the philosophy that dance as an art form can be a rewarding and valued life experience for both serious and recreational students. Instruction is offered in classical ballet and pointework, tap, modern, jazz, and lyrical as well as creative movement classes for the young student. Adult classes are also available for exercise and dance appreciation. Music instruction was added in October 2006 as a natural progression of the art forms.

Introduction:

Dance training can instill a sense of poise, confidence, and musicality that will last a dance student’s entire life. The training will physically condition bodies and stimulate minds with the complexity of the art form. Whether studying dance once a week for enjoyment or committing to serious daily study, dance is a positive rewarding experience.

While striving to make dance enjoyable for all students, Allegro upholds a strong sense of dance education. This includes dress code, studio guidelines and attendance recommendations, and a safe yet progressive syllabus in each dance discipline. Dance performance opportunities include the Spring Dance Concert, the annual Nutcracker production, Company competition, community performances and in-studio showings.

Individualized instruction by qualified music instructors is offered in the professional setting of Allegro studios. Private lessons are offered in piano, voice, guitar, flute, clarinet, and saxophone. With individualized lessons, teachers have the time to focus on a student’s strengths and weaknesses. For each lesson period, the student is the primary focus of the teacher. The teachers can help each student be the best he/she can be.

Allegro is pleased to offer music and dance lessons at the same location to save time for busy families.
